The Daffodils

The Daffodils
Celebrate the arrival of spring with a visit to Blomdalen at Gullö! Along the walking trail, you’ll find over 30,000 daffodils including 20 different varieties in full bloom.
Blomdalen at Gullö is open in spring when the daffodils are in bloom, usually in mid-May. We’ll announce exact dates for Blomdalen and the café’s opening about a week in advance. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on the blooming season.
The farm’s previous owner, Lena Aschan, missed the vibrant colors of late-summer flowers in spring. She wanted to cultivate hardy, perennial flowers that deer and hares wouldn’t disturb. Her choice fell on daffodils. Inspired by a daffodil garden in southern Sweden, she decided to plant a large sea of daffodils in the Gullö forest, creating a beautiful harmony with the surrounding nature.
The first attempts were made in 2007, and today, over 30,000 daffodils in around 20 varieties thrive in what became known as Blomdalen. The daffodils were carefully selected, with most sourced from a Dutch supplier. The latest bulbs were planted in autumn 2023, with more to come over time.
The wide trail through Blomdalen, located on the hill above the café, is about 500 meters long. It is accessible for strollers, though the path includes both uphill and downhill sections. Along the trail, you’ll find benches and spots ideal for photography.
The Farm Café
Blomdalen’s café is located at the end of the trail. It occupies the upper floor of the building, which was originally a beautiful stone barn from the 1860s. The café is open during the blooming season.
Spring has arrived early this year – that’s why we’re opening already at the beginning of May. The café will be open during a long weekend, serving coffee, waffles, and tasty little treats.
Exact dates and opening hours will be announced soon.
